5 Kinds Of Business Meeting Villains Who Waste Your Time [Infographic]

If you work in a corporate setting, or even if you are a freelance entrepreneur, you are probably familiar with boring business meetings. Whether it’s a virtual meeting or an in-person meeting, business meetings can be a tremendous energy sucker and time waster in your day. They wouldn’t be so bad if everyone involved was on board to be sure they were handled efficiently, but unfortunately that isn’t always the case. I’d like to introduce you to the 5 types of meeting villains who try to waste your time.

This infographic called Meeting Villains by Less Meeting caught my attention because I’ve met each one of these business meeting villains at some point during my career. Each one is as annoying as the next, but as this points out, it doesn’t have to be that way. This infographic offers some very simple solutions for how you can tame these villains and hopefully encourage them to become part of the productive team.

There was also an article published on Forbes last month called 5 Simple Steps To More Efficient, Effective Meetings. The tip in that article which I found most useful suggested that we schedule business meetings for half the time we think we’ll need. It forces people to stay on topic and stick to the agenda.

And of course, as that Forbes article says and this infographic backs up…Meetings should always start on time regardless if some people are late. There is no sense in penalizing the whole group because one person is late. Latecomers will soon realize that not only is it embarrassing to show up late, but they will miss valuable information. These two things will most likely cure their tardiness. You can even provide an incentive for people to show up on time, and as this infographic suggests, food is always an incentive to show up early!

So before you plan your next business meeting, look at the tips in this infographic. They will surely help you to improve the efficiency and productivity of your meeting. Who knows, by following these suggestions, we could even start to like attending meetings.
