There are many characteristics of an entrepreneur, and since every person is different, we don’t all have the same ones. The reason I like this chart is because these are the kind of characteristics that can make you feel like you wouldn’t be a successful entrepreneur, but the opposite is more likely to be true. For me, I’ve found that I don’t fit into a traditional corporate structure very well. I’ve done it before, and I’ve been successful at it, but it never felt right.
Successful entrepreneurs are often a lot alike. Some characteristics of an entrepreneur include being restless, impulsive, energetic, rebellious, charismatic, ambitious, inquisitive and creative. I usually get in trouble with my impulsiveness, and I’ve stuck my foot in my mouth and eaten crow more times than I can count because I spoke (or typed online) before I thought through what I wanted to convey.
There are some characteristics that specifically describe a personality type which many entrepreneurs have (ie. Bono, John F. Kennedy, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Steven Spielberg, Donald Trump, etc.). It’s called the Davinci personality type. I read a book last year called The Davinci Method which describes this personality type. If you have a Davinci personality, you may feel like you are about to burst with entrepreneurial energy.
My favorite part of this book is when it talks about ‘the miracle impulse.’ The miracle impulse is that desire within you which is so strong, you could probably save the world with it. If you can learn how to harness that, you can truly achieve anything.
This chart below called 9 Signs You Might Be An Entrepreneur is by Anna Vital at Funders and Founders. You might recognize these characteristics of an entrepreneur in yourself, but don’t ever get discouraged by that. You were born for greatness, and you really can do anything you are passionate about.
