It comes as no surprise to anyone that the ad industry has had its fair share of problems in the last few years. Everything from bots to ad blockers has limited the earnings of both publishers as well as ad agencies. Many solutions have been tried, however, so far nothing has had an immediate positive effect on ad revenue as a whole. Well, that could all change with the ClearCoin blockchain solution.
This new blockchain solution is aimed at a decentralized improvement of the ad industry where publishers, ad agencies, and ad buyers get a more transparent view into where their money is going, where it is coming from and ultimately if something fishy is going on behind the scenes.
For publishers and ad buyers, this is a welcome solution that could spell the end for fraudulent ad clicks, views, ad revenue etc. But we here at Bit Rebels are, of course, wondering, what is ClearCoin all about and what does it bring in terms of solutions? This is something that we are going to take a closer look at in this article.
To sum it up and to explain the coin in short (and in the words of the creators), “ClearCoin is a technology company that powers the real-time buying and selling of media on decentralized applications and the broader digital environment.”
In other words, it will aid the buying and selling of ad opportunities and offer a more truthful statistical overview as well as unprecedented transparency of transactions. Having a look at the ICO official website, it’s apparent that they know what they are doing and the team behind the coin has extensive experience in the ad industry. Having worked with big brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Sears, Lexus, and a lot of other exclusive top 100 brands, before starting work on the ClearCoin project, the team behind ClearCoin feels genuinely capable.
The coin will be used to buy and sell ad opportunities over the ClearCoin blockchain and thus offer the opportunity for decentralized apps to more accurately and truthfully track clicks, views, money, and other metrics used by publishers and advertisers to measure their ROI.
As I dig my way into the whitepaper and their ICO website, it’s clear to me that this is so much more than just another ICO trying to hog as much money as possible while ICOs are hot. This feels like an honest attempt at disrupting and improving the currently flawed ad industry and make it robust, truthful, transparent and decentralized.
No doubt are people excited about this ICO as well. At the current time, more than $4.35 million has been raised so far and the ICO still has until 31st of March before it ends. The total coin supply will be 1 billion and 800 million coins will be available during the ICO. It should also be pointed out that there is now hard cap currently applied.
For investors, ClearCoin ICO accepts around 60 cryptocurrencies as payment but also accepts PayPal to cover fiat investments. This is quite a broad spectrum of cryptocurrency that is accepted which should definitely be positive for both investors and the expected $40 million ICO forecast.
With a team 18 people strong and 25,000 registered users and token holders, Jay Singh (founder and CEO) has a great chance to improve the advertising industry once and for all. However, the big question is if the industry wants to be fixed.
Ad agencies, no matter how much they try to convince you that they can track real and fraudulent metrics, the fact of the matter is that they, to a 100% certainty, can’t. Instead, they have a filter implemented that filters out a set percentage of what they think is fraudulent activity. This setting can be abused for their own gain (and it happens a lot) which is, of course, one of the reasons why the ClearCoin blockchain solution could be a welcome one.
On the other hand, the same goes for publishers. It is definitely time to clean up the abuse that is currently going on in the advertisement industry and ClearCoin could definitely be the solution that everyone has been looking for.
At the time of writing, the ICO price of one ClearCoin is $0.055 which puts the market cap at $55 million. As per ClearCoin’s own cryptocurrency prediction, they predict the crypto market to reach somewhere north of $1 trillion within the next 3-5 years. This is, of course, great for the ClearCoin price as well.
Considering the global advertisement spending in 2018 is projected to be somewhere around 558 billion, and factoring in a generous ClearCoin market share of around 15-20% within 3-5 years with a global ad spending growth of around 4.3%, a more realistic price prediction for ClearCoin would be, ((695.000.000.000 * 0.20) / 1.000.000.000), which at best, would put it somewhere around $132-$139 per coin.
The really interesting thing about ClearCoin is that it already has a solution for organizing the metrics stored on the ClearCoin blockchain. It is called ClearVision Dashboard (a functional working platform coming to iOS and Android in 2018) and is a next-generation ad metrics tracking solution that could definitely replace your current tracking solution.
Whether it will be a plug and play solution is left to be seen, however, the initial look at this solution is indeed positive and definitely something that we here at Bit Rebels would deem a possible solution should we have the chance to try it out.
The ClearCoin roadmap is also filled with exciting milestones and it’s reassuring that ClearCoin started their research and development over one year ago. With a roadmap that extends all the way up to 2020, we can certainly see a growth in adoption of the ClearCoin technology in the ad industry.
As with all ICOs and technology ideas, the success of a cryptocurrency will depend entirely on the level of adoption of the technology behind it. If enough ad agencies and publishers migrate to this new system then we can be sure to see a great shift in the advertisement industry and once and for all put a stop to the growing $16 billion in ad fraud.
To sum it all up, “The company is driven by a shared purpose. The purpose is defined as a mission statement. ClearCoin’s mission is to power media and advertising on the distributed web of tomorrow.”
A 30-second ad during Super Bowl 51 could set you back $5 million. That is the value of consumer ad space. But, the million dollar question really is if ClearCoin will be able to excite ad buyers and sellers with its solutions or is it going to be another fad coin with promises that fall short? We here at Bit Rebels believe in this solution and we hope it will succeed. Why? Well, with the success of ClearCoin comes a new playing field where honesty and transparency, once and for all, become the fabric of the industry.
