How Many People You Can Impact With Your Business Idea? [Infographic]

We all want to know that we are making a difference in people’s lives. There are dozens of studies that show that employees want to know they are making an impact in the world. They value that even more than money. If you could count how many people your life and your actions impacted throughout your lifetime, how many do you think it would be? If you knew, you might be motivated to make a change. Your business idea could impact more people than you realize.

This infographic called How Big Is Life? by Anna Vital at Funders and Founders counts the people you impact in your lifetime. It’s an interesting concept. The reason she tackled this unusual perspective is to illustrate that the scale of what you do in your life can be more important than what you actually do. In other words, you can impact a lot of people by opening a hamburger stand. However, you can impact an exponentially larger number of people by offering a franchise for hamburger stands. It’s all about thinking big.

This infographic is based on the fact that we will live an average of 78.3 years, and we will meet around 80,000 people in our lifetime. If you just start with those people and then let this branch out based on the people they know, it quickly turns into more people that you probably thought.

How does all this relate to your business idea? It’s simple. If your goal is to impact people’s lives in a positive way, you might be able to tweak your thinking to be sure you impact the lives of as many people as possible. It’s motivating and inspiring to say the least. The moral of the story, and her final conclusion is that if you’ve been thinking about beginning a startup, it’s a great time to take your business idea and get going!
