In today’s world, diversity and inclusion is far more than a “nice to have” in a business. It’s essential for businesses to not only listen, but to lift up the voices of those from marginalized backgrounds—both within their company and beyond.
USANA Health Sciences has always been focused on helping people live their healthiest lives. That goes beyond their selection of health and wellness products—they aim to ensure the communities they’re involved in can flourish and thrive as well.
That’s why USANA focuses on diversity and inclusion internally with their company, externally with their charity, and throughout the world with the support of Associates.
By working together and listening to voices that need to be heard, they are leading the charge when it comes to taking steps toward a better world.
USANA has long been dedicated to building people up beyond what they do with their products. For years, they’ve worked to promote women in business. Most recently, they are putting their focus into raising up women within the business side of USANA with the Women In Leadership program.
This program encourages women in the workplace to grow their careers by giving them access to mentorships from female executives in the company.
In 2023, USANA was awarded a spot on the list of 100 Companies Champion Women in Utah, with a special recognition from Governor Spencer J. Cox, the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, and the Utah Women and Leadership Project at USU.
“USANA strives to be an inclusive company and place for women to grow in their careers,” says Sheena Blauvelt, USANA’s executive director of Human Resources.
“We are proud of what we have accomplished and are excited about future initiatives that will ensure USANA continues to offer a diverse workplace and leadership team.”
But they won’t stop there. The world is constantly shifting and changing, and they continue to promote an inclusive workplace for everyone. Recently, USANA teamed up with InclusivePro for specialized diversity and inclusion training.
With InclusivePro, they created an inclusion strategy and training program and shared it with all of their leaders.
With help from them and the people within USANA, they are continuously ensuring the company continues to elevate their very best and brightest. By enacting the change that so many want to see in the world, they’re doing all they can to contribute to a more inclusive world.
The Usana Foundation was created with one specific goal in mind: eradicating hunger and malnutrition from the world. But there are many paths that lead to this goal, and the foundation emphasizes the ones that do the most good.
That’s why their outreach isn’t just abroad—they fight hunger in their own backyard.
Marginalized communities, including women and people of color, often suffer the most in the face of poverty, which directly corresponds with the levels of hunger and malnutrition in the U.S. The Usana Foundation provides backpacks full of food to Utah kids who need it through the Kids Eat program.
With this initiative, they ensure kids in food-insecure environments receive the meals and nutrition they need when school might not be able to provide it, such as on weekends and holidays.
In addition to USANA’s own work with the USANA Foundation and KidsEat, they host a World Service Week every year for Associates and anyone else who wants to join. This inclusive event encourages people from all over the world to create a positive impact in their communities with:
Through these events, people are encouraged to engage with whole communities and meet with people from all walks of life. By creating an inclusive environment World Service Week allows communities around the world to see just how life changing it can be when you amplify diverse voices.
One of the greatest aspects of USANA Associates is the fact that so many come from such varied backgrounds. With Associates in 25 markets, there is a wealth of diverse voices from around the world who contribute to USANA’s one-of-a-kind global culture.
But Associates’ reach doesn’t end with sales. They’re encouraged to become leaders in their communities and step up in a way that promotes active listening and uplifting those around them.
Healthy living goes beyond supplements and vitamins—you need to be supported by a community that is collaborative and willing to stand up for what’s right.
At the heart of USANA is their commitment to creating an inclusive world that celebrates diversity, and you can rest assured they will continue to promote diverse voices and environments throughout their company and communities. Because that’s the way to create a happier, healthier world.
