8-Bit Heroes: True Retro Art Inspiration

Today is one of those days when I would like to watch The Goonies, Back To The Future and all those old classic ’80s movies. It would serve inspiration well if I could just tap into that retro feeling from the early beginnings of personal computing and the geeky nature of visual engagement so to speak. You know, gadgets, graphics and the way everything was portrayed. It’s always been very inspiring to look back on those things and see how far technology and pretty much the entire world has come since then. I know we have been throwing around the 8-bit graphics terms here on Bit Rebels for a long time now, and hopefully you guys have found it to be as inspiring as we have.

So today when I was drinking my morning tea and surfing away on the waves of the Internet on my iPad, I found something that will make most of you want to dig up those old Nintendo NES consoles to play some of those incredibly characteristic games. Today we give you the fascinating retro art by artist Jesus Castañeda. He delved into the 8-bit genre graphics theme through his imagination and pulled out some inspiring hero artwork.

To me, these are the best created 8-bit characters I have seen in quite a while. The “scale” of them seems to be just right, if you know what I mean. It’s easy to think that if you just put some squared graphics together it forms the retro 8-bit style. However, that’s where you are wrong. There is actually a resolution factor to it all that makes the characters look the way they did back in the ’80s. These seem to have found the right ratio, and they are amazingly inspiring!
