I follow a lot of photographers on Twitter, and I learn from them everyday. People like @NiniBaseema and @ThomasMarzano have really shown me that photography can be one of the most creative forms of self expression and art. Unlike some art forms that seem cliché after a while, photography never gets old. The world around us is constantly changing, and there are always new photo opportunities everywhere.
There really are no limits for how a photograph can be formulated, especially with all the very cool photography apps that are available. However, what about the camera? For photographer Cary Norton, taking creative photographs wasn’t enough. He wanted to add a new level of coolness to his work, and he decided to do it with the camera itself. And wow did he ever succeed! He created a fully working 4×5 camera made out of Lego bricks. The black and white photograph below is one that he took with his Lego camera. Unbelievable! This is truly geektastic.
He bought the lens on eBay for 40 bucks and worked on it off and on for two years. He named his creation Mark I, and he already has plans to build a bigger better even more badass Mark II. You can read all the geeky details about how he did it, and see more pictures that he took during the building and construction process on Cary Norton. Thank you again to my Twitter friend Sue Ross (who loves Lego as much as I do) for showing this to me.
