About a week ago, Richard wrote an article about dog cosplay costumes. In that post, he asked the question, “When did we start putting clothes on our pets?” To answer that, it’s been happening for a long time now. I have friends who have entire closets dedicated to their pet’s wardrobe. Personally, I don’t understand that, but I’m sure for them it must be fun.
Since I’m a dog owner, I can see how a dog might put up with being put in clothes. Dogs are pretty tolerant to the ridiculous antics their humans put them through, but what about cats? I don’t have a cat, but from what I’ve seen, they are a little finicky and don’t seem like they would want to wear clothes.
These felt berets are different though. They are simple and stylish, and I actually think they give these cats even more personality. Since cats are all the rage now, at least on the Internet, it makes sense that they would be gifted a trendy little hat from their owners. Etsy member ToScarboroughFair whose designs have been featured on top websites and even in the recent movie Bridesmaids, created these colorful pet berets. She lives right here in Atlanta, and she felts each one of these unique hats from wool. Although they were designed for cats, she says they can also be used for dolls or even people (as a mini beret).
How do you get this hat on your cat? She suggests a good treat, a relaxed mood and a warm, soothing voice. Hmm… Sounds like cat torture to me, but I’m probably wrong. If you’d like to pick up one these little hats for yourself, your cat, or your doll, just click over to the ToScarboroughFair Etsy store. They are about $30 each.
