Do you know what paper doilies are? I haven’t seen a doily since my great grandmother died when I was very young, but she used to always have those in her house. When I visited her, I would fold them in half and cut designs in them with a pair of scissors. If you’ve ever done that, you know that when you unfold them, you’ll be left with a snowflake design.
I haven’t made a paper snowflake since those days, but after seeing these designs, I might be up for trying it again. These are snowflakes that Michele Pacey created with her junk mail, and I think they’re brilliant on so many levels. I wonder what she does with these snowflakes after she makes them.
My favorite part of this is how beautiful all the colors look from the junk mail. Who would ever think that trash could transform into such a great treasure? Just like with real snowflakes, each one of these is unique and special in its own way. What a fun way to get creative with just some paper and a pair of scissors. Even though I put Michele’s cute tutorial pictures below, if you decide to do this for yourself, I recommend also reading her accompanying article on Michele Made Me.
