Gallery1988: Weird Pop Culture Art Of ’80s Celebrities [8 Pics]

Technology progresses at an ever increasing speed, and the stuff that we use today is not exactly the stuff that we used to play around with as kids, right? It’s almost like if you were to take apart a Nintendo NES base station, you would actually understand what was going on underneath the lid. I probably wouldn’t, but that is how it feels comparing technologies that have been present in our lives through the years. The same could be applied to some of the movie and music celebrities that we used to listen to and watch. I mean, not to open them, but we would actually understand what their message was in an ’80s kind of way. Do you know what I mean?

To celebrate these personalities, Gallery1988 published a series of truly hilarious (or should I say “punny“) images portraying some of the ’80s most celebrated celebrities. It’s a collection of 8 images that will put your favorite retro celebrity in an apparently awkward position. It’s a weird mashup really, and I don’t know what to do with it, inspiration wise.

There is no doubt they are interesting and quite clever, but they are also a bit weird, wouldn’t you say? They make for a perfect fit for the Internet though which is increasingly filled with odd, weird, funny and creative stuff. This one might be the one that I have the most trouble categorizing. But then again, art isn’t always supposed to make sense I have heard. This does, but at the same time, it doesn’t. Viewing it from the perspective of fun and odd, it gets the highest vote from us.
