Papercraft is one art form that is never boring to me. The papercraft artwork that we’ve featured here in the past is mind-blowing, and my favorites are usually the intricate origami sculptures. From what I’ve seen and read, most of the time papercraft artists are very passionate and patient people. I’m drawn to that energy.
For example, check out this fabulous dress that someone made with 1,000 folded newspaper origami cranes. And then there was this guy who folded ten origami flowers every single day for three years to make enough for his art installation. See what I mean? These artists just ooze passion.
When I found these papercraft creations by Korean artist Cheong-ah Hwang, I knew I had to share them with you because she is another artist that fits into this category. The aspect of these that is the most interesting to me is the layering effect that she is able to create by only using paper as her material. Cheong-ah Hwang sells her creations in her Etsy store; however, don’t think the kind of time and talent it takes to create these comes cheap. For example, that little white paper bird (2nd picture below) sells for $185! If you decide to buy one, just make sure your young children know not to draw on them with their crayons. I mean, after all, they are just made out of paper. #justsayin
