Just recently in Japan, a million butterflies flew over their skies… the augmented reality sky that is. Those people who had their iPhones in various locations had the chance to catch butterflies. On that day, you could see people from all ages raising their phones towards the sky.
When they saw the butterflies, all they needed to do was catch them. Each area had different types of butterflies which corresponded to a prize or a coupon. There were three different areas that corresponded to different butterfly options. Okinawa, Tokyo and Kyoto. One cool thing people could do is form an album of what they collected. The great part of the campaign was that you could even trade butterflies with your friends! Amazing, right?! If you want to download the application you can click here.
“iButterfly” is an entertaining iPhone application using AR, motion sensor, and GPS functions to collect coupons. Through the iButterfly, the makers of the app can and will deliver not only coupons but also diverse information and content.
