This is such an oldie but a goodie! Every once in a while, I’ll stumble across something that I remember seeing from many years ago, but it’s so epic and so creative, it is worth revisiting today. That happened when I found the funny pictures that I put in an article called This Is Why Men Die Before Women, and it happened again today with the pictures in this article.
Back in 2006, the advertising agency Scholz & Friends designed an ad campaign for a German online recruitment website called Jobsintown.de. The slogan they came up with was “Life’s too short for the wrong job.” I don’t need to explain the concept since it’s painfully obvious in these photos from the print ads.
Since the world was not yet very familiar with the concept of social media back in 2006 (Facebook had only been around for 2 years then), going viral with a campaign was much more difficult than it is today. It was really a one in a million shot back then. Well, this one did it in 2006. I remember getting these photos on emails that were circulating, and everyone loved them. Long story short, Scholz & Friends is still around today, and Jobsintown.de went on to become one of the largest job search websites in Germany. I remember at the time thinking this was one of the best advertising campaigns I had ever seen, and I still feel that way today. It’s a classic.
