Lounge On Fluffy Marshmallows: Creative Couch Design

After a long day of staring at the computer and working your butt off, wouldn’t it be nice to melt into a couch that looks and feels like fluffy, welcoming marshmallows? I suppose some people might look at these pictures and say they look more like eggs than marshmallows, but eggs wouldn’t be cozy, so we’ll call them marshmallows. This creative and unusual couch design attempts to invite you to relax by just offering you a combination of different sized soft, oval shapes. The question is, how much does a couch’s visual appeal affect whether or not you choose to sit on it? It’s an interesting question. The answer for me is – a lot.

Think about it. If you saw a prickly-looking dark hard couch design, would you even want to sit on it at all? On the other hand, if you saw a couch design like this which basically looks like a bunch of pillows stitched together, wouldn’t you be excited to try it out? I would. Put the word “marshmallow” in the name of it, and I’m sold.

Since this couch design is so unusually shaped, you’d have the added bonus of being able to sit or lay on it in almost unlimited positions. It’s kinda looks like a couture beanbag chair to me. This cozy looking couch was created by Japanese designer Kei Harada. He calls it the “O’keeffe” sofa. Each “marshmallow” in the design is made from Styrofoam which is covered in cloth, so my guess is that this couch is super lightweight also. Unfortunately, as far as I know, this couch is not available for sale anywhere. We’ll just have to look at the pictures and dream of what it would be like to lounge on a pile of fluffy marshmallows.
