Wallpaper Paint: The Paint Roller That Creates A Wallpaper Look

One of the easiest ways to completely change the look of a room is to paint the walls a different color. Even though painting can seem like an overwhelming project since you need so many supplies, once you get into it, it can help you release your creativity with lasting benefits. I remember about a year ago, I decided to paint one wall in my house, and before I knew it, I had painted a few walls, the foyer and a bathroom. But what if you want to mix it up a little and add even more personality to it all? In that case, you might consider these patterned paint rollers.

These paint rollers will actually make your walls look like they have wallpaper on them, which is an illusion that is trendy and artistic right now. I’ve never seen this type of paint roller until today, although they’ve apparently been around for years. If you look at the short video below with a demonstration of how it works, you’ll see it seems very simple. However, I have a feeling this might be a bit more tricky than that. I’ll have to investigate further and let you know. Or, if you’ve used a patterned paint roller, maybe you can share your experience with us.

These particular paint rollers are designed to be used on fabric, walls or paper. There is an embossed pattern on each roller which will create a different look. To get the most unique look, you could paint the wall a striking color and then use a complementary color for the pattern. If you want to get really fancy, you could smooth your ceiling and paint that too (a solid color, not patterned), and then top it all off with lamps instead of overhead lights. Of course, if you want to get geeky with it, you can scrap all this and go for a more Super Mario Paint approach. The sky is the limit! You can pick up one of these paint rollers for about $25 in the patternedpaintroller Etsy store, and you can learn more about the method on The Painted House.
