Combining the past and the present is a photography technique that has been popular for a while now. We’ve featured a lot of that time capsule style on Bit Rebels. There is definitely something nostalgic about old photographs. After all, taking a roll of film out of our camera and dropping it off at the drugstore only to pick it up a few days later to see our pictures is an activity the children of today will probably never experience unless they become serious photographers. It’s no wonder we like to take a walk down memory lane.
Richard’s article Back To The Future: Photography That Will Blow Your Mind featured a past mixed with present photography technique that was truly captivating. Today I’d like to share a website with you where you can experience this fun for yourself. Dear Photograph is a place you can go to upload your own nostalgic photos.
Here’s how it works… Once you find an old photograph that you like, you physically take it back to the place where it was taken. You hold it up, line it up, and snap a new picture so you end up with a picture within a picture so to speak. You have actually combined the past with the present. The website, created by Taylor Jones, uploads the submissions for everyone to see. Sharing photos online is so popular right now, and this is yet another creative way to do that. Here is a selection of photos from the site. I just love these! Check it out for yourself and have some fun by going to Dear Photograph.
