When my father was alive, one of his favorite pastimes was building wooden birdhouses in his workshop, so I have especially fond memories of birdhouses. Combine that with my love of everything pixilated, and you will understand why I would live in one of these birdhouse cities if I were a bird.
The London artists at London Fieldworks created this bird neighborhood called the “Spontaneous City in the Tree of Heaven.” It consists of over 250 bird boxes in different shapes and sizes to please even the most discriminating birds. These organic forms will change shape to accommodate the tree as it grows. It’s all done to raise awareness about how important urban green spaces truly are. Wow, I would love to have one of these structures in my front yard. It’s like a 5 star bird hotel!
