There are so many things about this that are so cool; I don’t even know where to start! I remember a few years ago when we started seeing people create Twitter backgrounds made up of a collage of avatars from all their followers. I thought that was such a sweet way for someone to give his or her followers a little shout-out. However, what Kyle Wilson did and still does is waaaaay more creative and artistic than that.
He decided to sketch all of his Facebook friends. He periodically sits down and draws their faces based on the pictures on their own page. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, get this… He only allows himself 30-60 seconds to draw each portrait. If you look closely at the sketches below, each one is so detailed and full of personality. Wow, to think he could create such cute little mini-caricatures in such a short time is just incredible to me.
If you look at the enlarged image of his sketches, you’ll also see where he scratched out his mistakes and even added some little notes. Very nice! These Facebook faces of his are circulating the Internet and as a result, a lot of people are noticing his design talent. I wonder if he did that on purpose. Either way, it’s brilliant marketing!
