Star Wars Stamps Will Make Snail Mail Cool Again

I don’t think I am the only one who almost entirely abandoned snail mail as a networking tool long ago. I mean, I can’t even remember the last sent a hand written letter. It’s almost embarrassing. You see, there are still some things that are considered to be personal and caring, and one of those things is writing a real letter and actually taking the time to go get a stamp, put it on the envelope and drop it in a mailbox. There’s something romantic about it all that almost feels medieval in a way. Do you know what I mean? There’s a kind of novelty in it that is hard to describe. It’s something physical that you have actually produced yourself for the one person you are sending it to.

Later generations will probably never understand what a pen pal was all about, nevertheless the reason for actually buying a piece of paper to glue onto a bigger piece of paper, and then sending it off, especially when we could just open a new email, write what we want and then hit the send button for immediate delivery. I have to say, it’s one of the biggest leaps in human history to go from a 2 day delivery (sometimes even 2 weeks if the delivery address is on the other side of the world) to an almost instant delivery of mail within seconds. You will almost go mad just thinking about it.

Anything can be revived if the means by which we revive it are appealing enough. So how about a set of new stamps that are all based on the Star Wars galaxy? That should put things in the cool again, don’t you think? Stefan van Zoggel imagined a world where snail mail was still the romantic way of sending our heartfelt thoughts. He actually created a whole set of Star Wars inspired stamps that will make even the least mesmerized Star Wars opponent want to start sending snail mail again. Sure, these are just concept designs, but wouldn’t it be super cool if they were actually real stamps? I love a good retro revival, and this is certainly one of them!
