Ahh… a chair made out of pure sugar. Could life get any sweeter than this? Too bad about that New York Times article last month, which said sugar might be toxic. I think I’m going to forget about that and dream of licking this chair till it’s all gone. Ignorance is bliss, right?
The designer, Pieter Brenner, says this is a fully functioning chair. He worked closely with a sugar specialist to be sure everything was sturdy. It’s made of 60 pounds of pure sugar! He wanted to design a chair where the user would ultimately be the real designer, not him. In other words, he encourages people to lick, suck and crunch this chair to their own liking, as it sits in their living room.
Priced at $11,000, this turns out to be quite an expensive lollipop; however, I love the concept! I wonder if it’s sticky to touch, I wonder if it wobbles, I wonder if the sugar gets stale after a while. I have so many questions about this! According to Dr. Med Schneider, “This is exactly the amount of sugar you will consume in your life.” I normally don’t even eat much sugar, but for a chair like this, bring it on!
