I think most of you will agree with me when I say that it feels like the Internet has been around for forever, right? The weird part is that it has evolved so much in just the last 10 years. Most of us have forgotten what it was like back in the beginning before the Internet really got popular. I bet few of you remember the text-based websites and how slow the first images were showing up. It is all web design history now, and that is what we’re going to take a closer look at.
Did you know that back in 1995 there were only 19,000 domain names registered? Today there are over 250 million domain names and it is increasing fast. The pace in which the Internet has become popular is definitely a phenomenon. I don’t think there is any company, product or service that has ever progressed as fast as the Internet has.
If we were to try and wrap our heads around web design history and the fact that back in 1996 the average screen resolution was 640 x 480, the most popular web browser was Netscape Navigator and only 36 million people used the Internet. Fast forward 17 years and more than 2.74 billion people are now using the Internet with the average screen resolution at 1366 x 768, and the most popular browser is Google Chrome. The progression has been insane and it keeps picking up the pace. With web design services such as Miami Web Design Company, that is likely to continue.
In a fresh infographic presented by Web Design Degree Center, (design by NowSourcing), we get to take a ride down web design history and in increments see how the Internet revolution has progressed. It is amazing how technology makes all the people in the world come together in one community, the Internet. Social networking services and social media have pretty much been one of the primary driving forces behind its growth, and it also shows through web design history.
Do you remember what the first website or page you ever saw was? If you do, please share it with us in the comment section. Perhaps the page is still up and running or perhaps they have progressed to a more modern design. After all, web design history has had its share of trends and the old school text-based website is but a memory that most of us want to forget. Not to speak of the dreadful downloading speeds you could come up in with the baud modems. Yeah, the timeline of the Internet and web design history certainly have everything in common.
