World’s First Lego Greenhouse Built With 100,000 Lego Bricks

Many people consider London to be the design capital of the world, and each year in September when I see all the designs showcased at the London Design Festival, I can understand why. They are always fresh and innovative, and since I’m not a designer, I usually just stare at them in complete awe.

The festival is going on right now, and this year they have something extra special there that I’m so excited to tell you about. It’s the world’s first fully functional greenhouse made out of Lego bricks! Lego in the UK asked designer Sebastian Bergne to take on this unprecedented project, and the result is fantastic.

Sebastian used over 100,000 Lego bricks for this greenhouse, and everything about it (walls, floor, etc…) is made from either brown or clear Lego. Inside this structure, there are real tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, cabbage and other vegetables and greenery growing as a symbol and celebration of healthy living and eating. The greenhouse is also apparently equipped with a light installation since it illuminates at night. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate life than with Lego!
