Top 4 Most Anticipated Games Of 2017 Will Change Gaming Forever

Some long-awaited titles have already hit stores, with the likes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being hailed as Nintendo’s most important release ever. Yet it turns out that the gaming world has a lot more in store for us in 2017. Here just a few of the video games you can look forward to this year.

NieR: Automata

Due to be released: 10 March 2017
Platforms: PC, PS4

The Japanese role-playing game, NieR, is rightly hailed as a modern classic. Fans have been waiting seven years for a sequel, and our sources say the results are very much worth the wait.
Automata shares the original’s post-apocalyptic setting, yet it picks up the story thousands of years afterward. PlatinumGames were brought in to spruce up the gameplay and combat sequences. However, original director and writer, Yoko Taro, remained in charge of the story and role-playing elements.

Prey

Due to be released: 5 May 2017
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4

The sequel to the original first-person shooter, Prey, was first announced in 2006. Yet Prey 2 never came to fruition after Bethesda Softworks bought the rights to the franchise and promptly canceled it.

As a result, the 2017 version is not actually a sequel, but a reboot – or “reimagining” of the 2006 original. The game takes place in an alternate universe in which JFK was never assassinated. Developed by Arkane Studios using CryEngine, our sources tell us the company is set to make up for the mistakes it made with Dishonoured 2. As a result, the PC version of the new Prey is said to be “flawless”.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Due to be released: 14 March 2017
Platforms: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR

This virtual reality title is every Star Trek nerd’s dream. After all, is there a Trekkie alive who hasn’t wanted to sit in Captain Kirk’s chair and shout out some orders!
In this four-player game, one person each is in charge of Engineering, Tactical, and Helm, while the other plays the role of Captain. The game is set in the same timeline as the rebooted Abrams films. Your mission is to find a new home for a throng of Vulcan refugees.

This bodes well for the future of all Star Trek and sci-fi-related merchandise. After all, Star Trek-themed games are a common sight and have even spawned games on sites like online casino Play Cosmo, and other gaming sites. But VR could lead us to boldly go where no man (or punter) has gone before.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Due to be released: 23 March 2017
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4, PC

The fourth installment in the Mass Effect franchise takes place in the Andromeda galaxy during the 22nd century. BioWare’s latest epic uses open-world elements to focus more on planetary exploration. Many of the traditional gameplay elements remain, yet this time around there is less of a focus on combat. However, combat scenes are now more mobile and open, with less emphasis on cover.
