It still fascinates me when a video goes viral on the internet. It’s a lot of fun to watch the views increase in real time by thousands in just a few minutes. We’ve all seen it happen, right?
I’ve often wondered what the magic formula is for making a video like that. I finally decided that you can’t force it to happen, if the stars and the universe align in your favor that day, you’ll have a winner. However, I may be changing my mind about this after watching the Old Spice video below. This 32 second video has over almost 800,000 views in 8 days. That is 100,000 views per day, not bad!
I could watch this over and over. It is funny… no, it is hilarious. This video is no accident; they went to a lot of trouble to create something very special. Whoever thought up this concept is brilliant. Even my son, who is only 9 years old, wants to start using Old Spice Body Wash because of this video. On YouTube it states, “We’re not saying this body wash will make your man smell into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are insinuating it.” I hope to create something as simple and effective as this someday. This is pure marketing genius.
