Movies about superheroes have always been popular, but lately, it seems like they are becoming a part of our culture. We expect them to come out regularly and to be good. When they suck (cough cough The Green Hornet), we are truly disappointed. Our expectations get higher and higher from one superhero movie to the next, and I love every minute of it.
I was just looking at the calendar and realizing how many superhero movies are coming out soon. Before we know it, we’ll be able to see Thor, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern, Captain America: The First Avenger and Conan. This is obviously just to name a few. If I compiled a complete list of superhero movies coming out over the next year, it would be a long list for sure! We’ve all heard about how expensive those movies are to make. Richard even touched on that in an article not too long ago.
However, how much money do they actually make? How much money are we spending as a whole to go see these movies? This infographic, created by Cinema Blend, lays it all out for us. I have to admit, it’s a little depressing from a girl’s heroine perspective (where are all the girl superheroes?). The thing I like about this is that it’s based on worldwide box office numbers, not just those in the States.
