Do people still wear watches? Really? I think the answer to that question comes down to whether or not people wear watches primarily to tell the time. Now that everyone has their smartphone glued to their body 24/7, it doesn’t seem practical to wear a watch. Do you still wear one?
Personally, there are some situations where I would still wear a watch. For example, if I was scuba diving, if I was trying to make a geeky fashion statement, if I was feeling retro and playing Space Invaders, or if I was hiking deep in the woods, and I didn’t want my entire sense of time to be dependent on some random cell tower.
I never thought I’d see the day when watches were on their way out, but I guess that time is here. You disagree? Here’s something to think about… Instead of asking yourself if you still wear a watch, ask yourself when was the last time you saw anyone under the age of 25 wearing a watch? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Tobias Lunchbreath, the famous online cartoonist from Chicago, created this fun little graphic below for Core77. You can learn more about Lunchbreath on his flickr. Wow, I never knew there were so many uses for a wrist. Nice!
