Batman: The Telltale Series Is Taking Over The World

We here at Bit Rebels are huge fans of point-and-click games. Personally, I have been a fan ever since I was introduced to Myst by Cyan Studios. Many people still think point-and-click games are a breed of the past, but they couldn’t be more wrong. The genre is very much alive, and it is made abundantly clear when you look at games such as Batman: The Telltale Series. It too is a point-and-click game. However, this fantastic comic-styled take on Batman is an episodic game changer that will hook even the most cynical naysayer.

Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 1 was first released back in August of this year (2016) and has since received favorable reviews from critics all around the world. The game itself is a beautifully rendered adaptation of the superhero that we all love and is based on Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s Batman comic book series.

When you look at popularity, Batman is no doubt one of the most popular superheroes in existence. People flock to the movie theaters when a new movie is released, and comics about him is flying off the shelves. Also, new video games about this bat-winged savior seem to be released on an almost daily basis. The bat-hysteria has even inspired Casinos all around the world to feature Batman among their available games, such as online Batman slots. A strategy that has proven to be an amazing gaming experience.

In Batman: The Telltale Series you take the role as Batman. No worries, you get to play as Batman and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne. Also, according to Telltale Games, the creators of Batman: The Telltale Series, the game is a new and fresh interpretation of the universe. As the game studio puts it -“[pullquote]Batman: The Telltale Series is a fresh interpretation of the universe set in current times, not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics.[/pullquote]”

The game also introduces a new game mechanic that opens up a whole new aspect of gaming. It’s called “crowd play” and allows people to join in as spectators. The spectators will also have a pretty important role in the gameplay as a whole. As a spectator, you will get to choose various paths that the character can take, and the main gamer can choose to listen to the audience or go another route. There is also a setting that will favor the spectator’s option at all times allowing a crowd to collectively choose the path through the game.

So far, there has been three episodes released. In August, we were introduced to the first installment called Realm of Shadows (Episode 1), and it was quickly followed by Children of Arkham (Episode 2). About a month later New World Order (Episode 3) was released to expectations that far exceeded anyone’s wildest dreams.

Pushing for greatness, this episodic game will sooth the craving of even the most hardcore Batman fans. To say that Batman: The Telltale Series is a classic point-and-click game would be a fatal mistake as the game goes far and beyond to immerse the player in a gaming experience unlike any other.
