Yesterday I wrote about what could possibly be the world’s greatest Star Wars collection of all time. It is an insane collection of everything from life-size lightsabers to small custom figurines. You can find pretty much anything in that collection. Today I am taking a little bit of a different approach to the whole thing. Today is all about the original aspect of it all. If you consider yourself to be even a moderate Star Wars fan, you know that the figurines released back in the day are now worth a lot of money. Some of the most rare ones can bring in several thousands of dollars if sold to the right buyer. It’s pretty impressive, and if you have a complete vintage collection of the Star Wars figurines, you could potentially be sitting on a gold mine.
This complete vintage collection is priced at $2,700-$3,500, which you have to agree is quite a lot of money for some figurines that could have been bought back when you were a kid for pennies in comparison. It totals 79 figurines, which are all of the official figures from the movies A New Hope,The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. I wonder how many people out there sport one of these collections. I know many of my friends who are Star Wars fans have tried to collect them all throughout the years, but none have actually managed to pull it off.
The thing is though, when you collect something, you want to buy the pieces one by one. It’s way more fun to put together your own collection than to just buy a completed one and be done with it. That is what collecting is all about – To carefully choose what you add to it and to make sure, in this case for example, that your complete vintage collection of figurines is in the mint condition you set out to achieve. However, for someone who just wants to play with them, which of course is why they were made in the first place, this complete vintage collection would totally be an expensive toy set for the kids. If your wallet can support it, I say go for it.
