LEGO Calendar Hangs On The Wall Yet Synchronizes With Google Calendar

If you work with many people in a busy office, you know it’s tough to organize everything and everyone. Everyone has a different schedule, and people are constantly going in and out and meeting with clients. This was the scene at Vitamins Design, so they set out to find an inspiring solution for keeping everyone up-to-date on who was going where when. The result of their brainstorm is a geeky digital LEGO calendar that I’m sure many people would love to see hanging on the wall in their office.

You can see the general design in the pictures below. The way it works is very simple. Each person has a LEGO minifig that represents him or her. Projects are organized by color, and the number of bricks represents time (one brick represents half a day).

Even though this LEGO calendar is mounted on the wall, it can still synchronize with Google Calendar. In other words, it can live in the digital space also. According to Vimeo:

“It’s made entirely of LEGO, but if you take a photo of it with a smartphone, all of the events and timings will be magically synchronized to an online, digital calendar. It makes the most of the tangibility of physical objects, and the ubiquity of digital platforms, and it’s also put a smile on our faces when we use it!”

The Vitamins Design team plans to share the code for their LEGO calendar very soon. That way, any office full of creative people could potentially recreate this for themselves. Since people working in an office have all sorts of different smartphones, it works with all of them. I could also see this being something fun for a geeky family to create in order to keep all the kids on track with their different schedules. Love this!
