Insane Living: A Whole Room In A Compact Box

The world is getting ever smaller they say. As a little kid, I never used to quite understand what the adults who said that were talking about, but as I grew older, I understood that it didn’t have to do with the world as a physical object. With all the new technology, infrastructure and transportation, we see ever shorter delivery times. This in turn makes the world feel smaller since it will not take us a week to go from Europe to the U.S. by boat, for example, which is what people were used to back in the 1800s. Technology is bringing us closer to the point that we now know exactly where our friends and loved ones are at any time of the day if they are using Foursquare for example.

There are some people who believe this saying in the literal sense as well. If the world is getting smaller, and if there are more people inhabiting it, then there has to be a way to make our actual living smaller to house everyone, right? Well, that is exactly what designers Marcel Krings and Sebastian Mühlhäuser have managed to do, and in quite an impressive way as well. It is called Casulo. They have long worked on a solution where they can take a whole room with them wherever they might have to go, and by the looks of this, they succeeded.

When you have a look at the initial box, it doesn’t look like much. Just keep browsing down, and you will be more impressed by each picture you see of this thing. It’s just insane how they have managed to pack so much stuff into that little tiny box. I am sure that if they would take that through customs, they would have to unpack that whole thing in order to show what the hell it is they are trying to bring into the country. Amazing things are usually small in the world of technology, and this is no exception. The question is really if any one of us would use it when traveling. Would you be brave enough to use one of these on your worldly travels?
