Largest LEGO Build Ever Created: Life-Size X-Wing Starfighter Replica

Every time we feature a humongous LEGO build, we marvel over its size and think that’s it. That’s as big as it will get. Well, of course that isn’t the case, and there has always been an unspoken competition amongst LEGO fanatics for who can build the largest LEGO build. This time is different though. I don’t think anyone will be able to top this LEGO build anytime soon. It was just released for viewing, and it’s now the world’s largest LEGO build ever. To make it even better, it’s a life-size X-Wing Starfighter.

This massive LEGO X-Wing Starfighter weighs 45,980 pounds (20,865 kilograms)! It took 32 people 17,000 hours (four months) to complete it. It’s so huge that it has a steel infrastructure to hold it all together. It beat the former world record for the largest LEGO build by 2 million bricks (which was a build of the Mall of America in Minnesota).

Wanna guess how many LEGO bricks this badboy has on it? The answer is approximately 5,335,200. The wingspan is 44 feet (13.44 meters). It’s basically a one-to-one replica of the LEGO Star Wars set #9493. This model is 42 times the size of the retail building set. Whoa!

This life-size X-Wing Starfighter was constructed to promote “The Yoda Chronicles,” which is a television show coming to Cartoon Network this week. It’s at Times Square now, but it will soon be moved to LEGOLAND in California. Children can climb into this massive build and have their picture taken. There’s even buttons with sound effects and some R2-D2 blips and beeps.

This fantastic build was constructed in the LEGO Model Shop in Kladno, Czech Republic. You can read more about this life-size Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter on the LEGO website, or on either of the source links listed below. Now this is one LEGO build I would love to see in person!
