Vintage Action Figures From The 1978 The Lord Of The Rings Movie

The world can’t seem to get enough of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic Middle Earth. It’s like we always crave more, and the first movie in the prequel series of The Hobbit should stand as testament of that. The way Peter Jackson brought Middle Earth to life is almost unprecedented. From start to finish, The Lord of The Rings movies took almost 12 years to complete – that’s from script to finished release of the last movie. That’s quite an adventure, right? It’s a little unclear how long the three movies in The Hobbit will take to complete. However, judging from the first one, they will not disappoint. Did you know that when The Lord of The Rings was released as a movie back in 1978, there were some amazing vintage action figures released the next year as well?

Personally, I didn’t even know action figures were available back then. Apparently they were, and these vintage action figures are as amazing as any others. They seem to be quite rare and popular as well since they recently sold on eBay for more than $15,000. That’s right, these 7 vintage action figures raked in a pretty cool buck. Sometimes it’s rewarding to be a collector of things. Or should I say, to be a hoarder.

I am sure any The Lord of The Rings fan would lock these rare vintage action figures into a vault somewhere considering what they are worth. They were made available by the Knickerbocker company back in 1979, and they seem to have stood the sands of time quite well. I keep wondering how much self control it really takes to keep from busting these packages open in order to hold them just once. It’s like the one ring itself, they are calling for you to open them so they can be played with. Where is the ring itself? Surely there must have been a “The One Ring” vintage action figure (or accessory) as well. If I could just hold them once, me sweeeeearssss!
