Modern Fossils: How Our Children Will See Our Achievements

When looking at the technological revolution back in the ’80s, I always get a little nostalgic and that retro feeling wraps itself around me like a blanket keeping me warm and blissful. It’s like everything I have ever come to enjoy was born back in that age. But things change quickly nowadays, and we’re always looking to improve, and sometimes to no good. A gadget can of course be refined into something ultimately perfect; however, there is always a bit of that first impression feeling that is taken away from a product whenever we shoot out a second incarnation of it. It’s not hard to understand why things that were become such awesome retro revivals. After all, everything started back then, and everything was a little bit simpler as well; thus easier to get attached to.

Our children might not have the same view on the things that we call retro and hold dear to our hearts. Just as we are looking back in time trying to find answers in fossils, our children will most likely look back at our achievements and in an instant view it as ancient and almost fossil like.

There is a great culture out there that is fossilizing the retro gear that most of us geeks remember from the ’80s, and the way it’s done is nothing less than inspirational and amazing. Not only will it make perfect book shelf art when books have become obsolete, but it may also keep the memories of a magical past fresh and always at our finger tips. My personal favorite is the NES Zapper. That one would certainly get its own honorary spot in the middle of the room in a glass display podium. #RetroFTW!
