Modular Two Story LEGO Apple Store Build Even Has A Genius Bar

Technology and LEGO seem to complement each other well. It seems like many technology gadgets from smartphones to cameras to printers have been recreated in LEGO. Even the Apple II was redesigned in LEGO, and the build even included the computer’s internals. I suppose it only makes sense that someone would want to build a LEGO Apple Store.

This isn’t just any old LEGO Apple Store though. It’s a two story, incredibly detailed rendition of the now classic retail store that helped Apple become the tech giant it is today. The Apple Store itself is so unique in its design that a while back, Apple even trademarked its ‘look.’ According to this Reuters article, that includes the “clear glass storefront surrounded by a paneled facade” and “oblong tables with stools” inside.

LEGO builder Jon Lazar decided to recreate this retail store by building a two-story, modular LEGO Apple Store. He didn’t base the build on any particular Apple Store, but rather on the overall design they are all famous for. The first floor of this LEGO store has iPads and MacBooks. The second floor has iPhones and the Genius Bar.

You can read Jon’s blog post about how and why he decided to make this at The Modular LEGO Apple Store. This store was positioned amongst others as part of the ILUGNY display at BrickFair. The tables where the MacBooks, iPhones and iPads are displayed look just like the actual tables in the real store. He even created little stands (made from click hinges) for the iPads and iPhones.

I was wondering how he created the stairs between the two levels. According to Jon’s blog post about it, “The stairs between the two floors are made of clear bricks with translucent blue plates that extend wider than the clear bricks in order to give them a floating appearance.” I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
