This is the time of year when families spend a lot of time outside mingling at summer BBQs, swimming in pools or even bird watching. The birds around my house wake up at about 4:00 in the morning, and I love leaving the windows open so I can hear them start their day. If you are a Star Wars fan (and what Bit Rebels reader isn’t?), you are going to love this birdhouse. It’s the officially licensed Death Star birdhouse. Now you can let the geeky birds in your yard live in style.
Sometimes the Star Wars stuff that ends up getting “officially licensed” surprises me. Who would ever think they would allow a Death Star birdhouse to be created and sold? But I’m all over it, and I think it’s a great idea. This little bundle of evil is made from ceramic, and it’s hollow on the inside. It has a drainage hole at the bottom to keep the birds dry and cozy. It even comes with a little wire hanger so you can hang it safely in your favorite tree.
It looks a bit small in the pictures, but then again, it’s probably the perfect size for a little family of winged emperors. The best part is, if someone who isn’t a fan of Star Wars sees this, he or she will probably think it’s a moon (it kinda looks like that). You’ll know the truth though, and it can remain a secret between you and the birds. If you’d like to get one of these officially licensed Death Star birdhouses to adorn your yard, just click over to TheFowndry where they sell for $40 each. If you’d like to see more, click over to Birdhouse Designs For Geeks to see a C-3PO and an R2 birdhouse.
