Retro Defined In This Lego Game Boy Transformer

The way people help things evolve is often by trying to predict the future in some obscure way. However, the best predictions have come from actually watching the past, and what we did wrong. The corrections of our mistakes is usually how we evolve, and that serves as a great indicator for what will most likely come in the future. This way of thinking was quite popular during the ’80s since we managed to predict that within a 10-15 year period, computer graphics would be almost photorealistic, for example. There is always a margin of error when trying to predict the future, so hitting your predictions at 70%-80% accuracy is probably considered a huge success.

Yesterday I wrote about a Lego infographic (The Learning Power Of Lego) which took us through the history of Lego, and through that we got to see a bit of the future. There have been a lot of Lego themes over the years. Everything from space to the Lord of The Rings has been legofied. But it is in the ability to create whatever you want that has made Lego so incredibly popular. This Lego Game Boy Transformer is a great example of that. The way that Julius von Brunk, the “Domaster,” managed to put this retro Transformers together and disguise it as a Game Boy is not only creative, but an ultimate statement that retro is to be reckoned with.

We are always happy to cover anything that might push the limits (if there are any) of the Lego block further. This Lego Game Transformer is an homage to the era when Japan was the leading force in console gaming, and it truly measures up to all things retro. The way we got excited about a new Nintendo or Game Boy game back in the day is probably as excited as I am right now when seeing this awesome Lego build. The interesting thing is that if Lego could make a Minecraft series, surely they could make a console gaming series of Lego creations as well, right?
