Star Trek Video: Call Me Maybe Redone In Star Trek Lines

What an editing project! This Star Trek video deserves to be on Bit Rebels just because the dedication and commitment to this project must have been huge. And, of course, the geeky mashup of Star Trek and a popular song makes it all even better. I remember when this was done last month with Star Wars (here it is on YouTube), and I didn’t write about it. This time, as soon as I found out about this Star Trek video, I knew I had to share it with you.

If you didn’t like this song before now, you will love it after you watch this. This is the first video over 3 minutes that I’ve watched completely from beginning to end in a long time. As a matter of fact, I like this version way better than the original. It’s a little jerky in places, but that adds to its charm. The creator of this Star Trek video, Zyphorg (a talented teenager), said this on YouTube, “It took me around a week and a half to finish. I used a website with all the scripts as well, so it wasn’t too hard finding which episodes had the words. Tho it did take a while to find ones that were useable.”

A little side effect of watching this is the feeling of nostalgia. I write about Star Wars so much, but when I see something like this, it makes me miss Star Trek. I’m going to watch for more geeky Star Trek goodies to share with you. There have been so many spoofs and funny versions of this song, but this one and the Star Wars one are definitely my favorites. I saw an interview with Carly Rae Jepsen where she said the cookie monster version was her favorite. She seems a little geeky to me. I bet when she sees this one; she might change her mind.

Star Trek Video: It’s “Call Me Maybe” For Trekkies

I couldn’t resist including this new Star Trek print by Chris Thornley for Art v. Cancer.
