Star Wars Lego Sand Crawler Is Beyond Retro

I have no idea why I get so enormously excited every time I find something that is created using Lego. Maybe it is because it’s such a genuine and fun way to be creative. It’s also one of those inventions that helps you develop your brain to think in 3D. Someone once said that if you can think in 3D, you can solve any problem. The fact that problems have multiple layers makes Lego a great “toy” to help your brain wrap itself around problems that have several different solutions. Think of it as a Rubik’s cube, except that you can never solve it. It constantly evolves together with your imagination. As we have mentioned before, some people really do take their Lego building seriously, and they plan their every block as if it was one of the carved blocks of the great pyramids.

There is a Flickr user out there named Marshal Banana, and what he managed to do is to build one of the most correctly attributed scaled down Star Wars Lego Sand Crawlers ever created. At first, when watching the clip, you start worrying about the speed of the crawler. The first tests of the crawler show that it’s moving way too fast. However, as the build progresses, the speed of the crawler is slowed down by the sheer weight of the build.

The fact that the end result weighs about 18 kg is reason enough for the speed to be decreased considerably. What I particularly love about this build is that it’s not only flawlessly detailed on the exterior, but also immensely detailed on the interior as well. It’s insane really how much time the builder must have taken to create this awesome vehicle. This is for sure another one that goes into my book of awesome Lego builds.
