Steampunk Star Trek Tricorder And Phaser Boldly Go There [10 Pics]

When I think of Star Trek, I always think about the future of technology. With each day that passes, we are getting closer and closer to realizing some of the famous Star Trek technology we all dream about using like tricorders, phasers, replicators and of course holodecks. In these pictures, the futuristic Star Trek tricorder and phasers suddenly become relics from the past instead of the future. It’s a steampunk joyride that will leave your brain twisted around and inside out.

You’ll see a few different versions below for the Star Trek tricorder and phaser. They are all concept designs by deviantART user ~flosvensson. He’s an artist from Germany with a love for Star Trek and steampunk. It’s a gorgeous combination, and I hope we see more designs like these. Putting the steampunk effect on gadgets has always been interesting to look at, but there is just something about steampunking Star Trek gadgets that make it extra special.

Now it makes sense to steampunk a few of the Starfleet uniforms so they match this Star Trek tricorder and phaser. Can you imagine if the whole uniform got the Steampunk treatment? I suppose if the crew takes a trip back in time to the 19th century, they might be able to use these to fit in with the locals.

In a steampunk world, anything is possible. The fantasy mix of Victorian and science fiction combined with machines, circuits and mechanisms is always a treat. I’ve seen it done with Star Wars before, but never Star Trek.
