I recently moved to Cincinnati, and man it is cold here! I am still adjusting to the snow and ice. In the short time I have been here, I have already experienced two big winter snow storms. Adjusting has taught me so many things, like if you stay inside a room with a heater, and if there is very little moisture, it is good to use a humidifier. Not only does this provide moisture, but it also helps to minimize the nose bleeds we might experience during extreme temperatures.
Coming from a country with tropical warm weather all year round (Philippines), it was quite difficult to adapt quickly. I had to do several tests to see what was the best type of winter clothes to wear everyday. As my boss here told me, “Misty, the best defense is to layer your clothes.” It’s a tip that has worked pretty well! There are days that I wear at least 3 layers of clothes. There are lots of different ways a geek can keep warm. I found some very cool stuff that I thought would tickle the interest in all the geeks out there. Check out the Marvel Heroes Toki Doki Hoodie, this Star Wars Thermal Shirt or, better yet, this Star Wars Hoodie!
