The World’s 10 Strangest Laws [Infographic]

If you’ve ever heard the saying, “Everything was better when I was young,” you know it’s one of those things that sticks to you like tasteless gum in your hair. Before you know it, you might actually start to believe it. What are all the people who say it basing that statement on anyway? Is it just because they can’t handle that the world has changed, or was it really better before? I think regardless of how you look at it, we will always remember our past in a different light than it actually was. I am personally of the opinion that it’s not people who change, but rather the environment around them which changes, and that makes some people feel uncomfortable. They start looking for places or people who remind them of themselves prior to that change.

The fact of the matter is, I think the world was actually less structured and more weird before than it is now. I think I could easily base that on one particular infographic I found today which tells us about how weird the world really was at one point in time. This infographic called The World’s Strangest Laws is a kicker to look through. You’ll have a smile on your face the entire time, and if you don’t think this is weird when you are done then I truly don’t think you are from this earth. It is brought to life by Teletext Holidays and is a great example of how your perception can totally be skewed by the many good memories you have from your youth. These laws were clearly added during a time when the world was less educated and felt like everything should be controlled by a law, no matter how silly it was.

So the question remains, is the world getting weirder or are we actually starting to become more civilized and educated in our approach to putting limits to everything we do? It’s hard to say, right? I totally agree! You only have to turn on the news to understand that what we have created out of this wonderful blue planet is anything but what was intended. Every day there are more laws and more ridiculous guidelines for the world to comprehend and understand. Only time will tell if that is good or bad. But one thing is for sure, if someone were to suggest one of these laws today, I am sure it would be ridiculed out of proportion and the person suggesting it would probably have to find another job. The world is weird, yes, but I don’t think it is any weirder now than it was before.
