Trading Places Photography: When Kids Become Parents

It’s hard nowadays to spot if something is photoshopped or not. Usually it comes down to looking at the reality of the images. Is it really possibly that the images you are looking at exist? That’s the first question you should ask yourself. Of course there are times when the line between reality and fiction is as thin as a string of hair, and that’s when things starts to get a bit blurry. There are more and more people out there who are getting truly awesome at photoshop, and they can compose just about any image without you immediately spotting that it is photoshopped. However, there are times when you have no trouble spotting the obvious as well.

That’s exactly what you will be checking out in this article. It’s a series of images that have obviously been photoshopped; however, the awesome way that the designers Paul Rikpe, POP and Florian Schmucker (Hamburg) managed to put these together is absolutely flawless. I have tried to see where the kids’ heads stop and the bodies of the parents begin, but it’s a game I lost quite quickly really. The skills these people have are just epic if you’re asking me.

The concept in itself is simple and straight forward, it’s to depict children trading places with their parents, and it creates a hilarious set of images. Obviously there is something that immediately messes with your head. Looking at these images gives you a kind of odd perspective of how it actually is in the world. This whole thing makes you wonder how much of what you see in newspapers is really real, and how much is fiction. Imagine there being a couple of really good photoshoppers at every large newspaper. Your every thought about the world changes quite quickly then, right?
