As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. We never know where our discarded gadgets and gear are going to end up. Usually though, it ends up on a scrapheap somewhere waiting to get crushed and chopped up into teeny tiny pieces and recycled. Well, recycled is a pretty broad word that has come to involve everything from a crusher to someone actually finding a second hand use for it. For example, computer parts are usually crushed and then melted to become other parts for something else. But it’s when someone actually uses the product as a whole to create something new that you really have to be impressed.
Check this artist out for example. His name is Brian Mock, and he is a master at welding. He put two and two together and started using people’s old trash to create stunningly, and a bit trippy, beautiful sculptures that you wouldn’t think twice about bringing back home with you. These pieces could easily light up a boring corner at home that you have been wondering for a long time what to do with. Imagine what a few nuts and bolts could become after their primary usage is no longer valid.
The intricate designs are a sure sign that these things weren’t just put together in a jiffy. They must have been carefully planned and carried out with the greatest of dedication and skills. I especially like the guitar sculpture. It could serve as a truly exclusive music award any day of the week. Maybe that was exactly what it was used for, I have no idea. All I know is that I am heavily impressed with the artwork that Brian puts together. It’s truly amazing work with a lot of soul incorporated into it.
