World’s Smallest Origami: A Rather Tiny Art Installation

Everyone who has ever had a piece of paper in front of them has been tempted to fold something at some point. Whether it is a paper airplane or some advanced pattern that your mind has randomly come up with doesn’t really matter. The urge to create is usually stronger than the urge to actually pick up a pen or crayon to draw or write. However, it usually doesn’t turn into anything more serious than some basic folding which in the end turns out to be just rubbish. For some people, the folding of a piece of paper has become a hobby, then that hobby has become an art form, and they do everything to progress into even more advanced paper patterns and motifs.

For some of the advanced people, folding a bird or something else that us normal people think is just baller is not enough, and they branch out into something that us bystanders just can’t seem to fathom. There are patterns out there that on paper (no joke intended) are just too advanced to even be read by anyone who hasn’t been working with, yeah you guessed it, origami.

Even the people who have been doing origami for a long time can become no longer satisfied with that level of mind-rubbing, and they branch out into even more advanced origami. It is here where miniature origami comes into play. Instead of trying to come up with new advanced patterns, Anja Markiewicz simply stepped up her game and created the same advanced origami creations that we are used to seeing and then shrunk them into a fingernail-sized carbon copies. When i saw this, I was sure there was some Photoshopping going on. However, these are perfectly folded miniature/nano origami creations. My question is, who the hell out there has the patience to sit and fold these tiny things and not just get the urge to crush them between two fingers? Would you have the patience?
