Modified Volkswagen Makes The Road A Classic Artshow

Anything that is modified is usually better, otherwise what would the point be to modify it, right? There are literally millions of modified cars in the world and for some it’s a customization effort in order to make it more personalized. For others, it’s more about making the object as optimized as possible. Well, for a Croatian metal shop team creativity took the upper hand and the result of that was a heavily pimped out and modified Volkswagen.

The metal shop I’m referring to is MG Vrbanus and what they have been able to put together is not only heavily impressive, it is one of those rare pieces of art that you have never seen on the road before. No doubt is it a masterpiece that will make the most hardcore auto show visitor’s jaw drop.

The team decided to modify a 1970s Volkswagen Beetle, and they wanted to use wrought iron to do it. It took the 3-man team the epic amount of 3,500 hours (yes, that is 437.5 8-hour work days for the people that are too lazy to do the calculations themselves) to finish up the project. Not only that, but the team also added over 5,000 Swarovski crystals to further pimp out this modified Volkswagen.

The swirling and bent wrought iron weighs in at around a few hundred pounds or so, which make this beetle quite unique. However, I wouldn’t try and get this modified Volkswagen up in any excessive amounts of speed as the body work on it is completely hollow. The intense wind (not to mention bugs) would probably make you blind before you even hit third gear.

Furthermore, I doubt you would even want to bring this modified Volkswagen out if it is raining as I am quite sure it will begin to rust quite instantaneously. For those of us uneducated in iron metallurgy, wrought iron (according to Wikipedia), was considered to be “commercially pure iron”.

Wrought iron is an iron alloy with a very low carbon (0.1 to 0.25) content in contrast to cast iron and has fibrous inclusions, known as slag. This is what gives it a “grain” resembling wood, which is visible when it is etched or bent to the point of failure. Wrought iron is tough, malleable, ductile and easily welded.” – Wikipedia
