A Typical Barbie Body vs. A Typical Real Woman Body [Infographic]

I’ve written many articles over the years about Barbie’s body, and how it warps the self-image of young girls around the world. Now that I’m getting older (and hopefully more mature), my opinion about it is changing. I don’t want a Barbie body anymore. I’m happy with how my own body looks, and I don’t want to look like anyone else. Ten years ago I wouldn’t have been able to type that. I want to ask you a different question now. Is a Barbie body even physically possible?

The answer to that question is no. A website called Rehabs.com, with a headline ‘Eating Disorders In Pursuit Of The Impossible,’ decided to compare the typical Barbie body to the typical woman’s body. As it turns out, it would be truly impossible to look like Barbie. Let me explain…

On Barbie’s body, the neck is twice as long and six inches thinner. If you had this, you wouldn’t be able to lift your own head. Barbie has a sixteen-inch waist. If your waist was only sixteen inches, you would only be able to fit half a liver and a few inches of intestines in there. Her ankles are only six-inches, which wouldn’t support her body. She would have to crawl everywhere. Her wrists are only 3.5-inches, and her feet are about a size 3 in children’s shoes. I could go on.

This infographic called Is A Barbie Body Possible? puts it all in perspective. After looking at this, it seems like Barbie’s body is more like something out of a sci-fi movie than something to admire. So read this, get a good giggle, and rejoice. Realize that you are perfect just the way you are, regardless of what shape or size your body is.
