Jaw-Dropping Cupcake Tower Made With 10,000 Decorated Cupcakes

There is beauty, and then there is b-e-a-u-t-y. A ten foot tall cupcake tower made with 10,000 cupcakes is definitely one of the most beautiful installations I’ve ever seen. If you’ve been reading Bit Rebels for a while, you probably know that I’m a cupcake fanatic, and I’ve written dozens of cupcake articles. This is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this before. Cupcake baker Leah Foster baked approximately 13,000 cupcakes (3,000 were for another project) before she lost count of how many she made.

The cupcake tower you see below is called her “Muffin Tops” installation, and it was set up in Manhattan for a while. The other 3,000 cupcakes were for a project in Dallas. As with all art installations, there is a deeper meaning behind this one. Leah is no stranger to baking cupcakes, and she started to notice that even though she’d bake them often, she would never eat them. Upon further refection, it of course all came back to the fact that she didn’t want to gain weight because she wanted to conform to society’s image of what a beautiful woman looks like. But then she realized, what is life without indulging in a few cupcakes every now and then?

Her cupcake tower was designed to help girls with insecurities. Students helped her decorate them, and each one had a little message inside. According to Leah, “Women are taught to be pretty on the outside and on the inside, to be smart and attractive, to be individual and independent. For me, the cupcake represents this contradiction and duality. The cupcake is almost everything I’ve been taught to be. It is cute, pretty, and petite, yet individual – not part of the larger cake. I feel this is symbolic of the current situation of my generation.” You can see in the pictures that she used a string system to help balance them so they wouldn’t topple over.

I present to you – the 10 foot (3 meters) tall cupcake tower made with 10,00 cupcakes. Time to drool…
