Fruit Faces: Extraordinary Self-Portraits Created With Fruit & Colors

Either teenagers these days are so much more talented than we were at the same age, or they just have access to more tools and sources of inspiration. I haven’t figured out which one it is yet, but some of the art, builds and unusual creations that kids and teenagers make nowadays are incredible and beyond our ordinary imaginations. I especially like creative photography collections, and these fruit faces are a great example.

Cristina Otero, a 16 year old artist and photographer from Spain, made these self-portraits by using her Pentax camera, a couple of special lenses, Photoshop, Photoscape and some colorful fruit. She only uses natural light, and she takes all her photographs in a roofless white room. This collection is called Tutti Frutti, and you can tell in each one that she tried to capture the essence of the fruit itself. These portraits are just oozing with creativity, and they make me wonder where her inspiration came from.

How does a person look at a piece of fruit and think, “I could incorporate that into a self portrait,” and then do it so well? She has talent beyond her years, and her fruit faces are fun, happy and very well done in every way. She didn’t forget any detail, and she even included her tongue, hair color and eye color into some. Her real eye color is brown by the way, but she likes to play with that in her photographs. She’s done a fabulous job of complementing her make-up with the individual fruits, which completes her fruit face look. If you would like to see more of Cristina’s artwork, you can check out Cristina Otero Photography or see her work at Senju-HiMe on deviantART. There are some other extraordinary photographs on her deviantART page, and I just got lost there for about fifteen minutes. Brilliant!
