How To: Love Yourself

I believe that before we can love others and be a good mom, dad, husband, wife, girlfriend, sister or brother to the people close to us, we need to first learn to love ourselves. This can be a real problem in our day and age when looks, success in careers, social status, etc… can be the basis for our self worth. Things dictated by the media can affect how we measure our own value.

Some people say that I am a very strong person, and to be quite honest, I have only became strong because I have first learned to love myself. It was a hard process, and I learned the hard way. I figured out that I could only give myself to the people closest to me if I knew who I was, and if I had the set of principles and standards to believe in myself.

Please know that I am not perfect, I still have so many things to learn and so many things to still achieve, but I have taken the first step. There is really no secret to loving yourself, the steps are quite simple. We need to accept who we are, and if we find that there are areas in our life we need to improve on, then we should go ahead and learn those things. We should take care of your body and our mind. We should exercise, eat right, sleep and have fun. Last but not least, we should read and learn to express ourself.

I have included a video that I found very useful in terms of taking the first steps in taking care of YOU. If you feel that there is something that you have done that can help others that are learning to love themselves, please share it with us. We love hearing from our readers.
