Most people don’t like rainy days. I really like them, but I’m kinda strange like that. I love how rain smells, and how it feels. Have you ever noticed that when you stand outside immediately after a rainstorm, it is quieter than usual? When was the last time you shared an umbrella with a stranger? It’s a great experience. Yep, I love rainy days.
For those of you who don’t like rainy days, I think I found a way for you to immediately make them fun. I stumbled across a blog this week called Color Me Katie, and I absolutely love it. One day after a rainstorm, Katie decided to turn dirty rain puddles into fun duck ponds. With a small package of rubber ducks and a camera, she’s brought a lot of smiles to people all over the Internet.
Her very simple and fun way to brighten a rainy day has inspired others to do the same. Jodie, a very talented photographer, was so inspired by Katie’s idea that she created a whole photography series herself based on the same idea, which you can view at Jodified Blog. I’ve included one of Jodie’s photos below (the last one). You can learn more about Katie at Color Me Katie or on her flickr photostream. This is a great example that illustrates how we truly are all one big family online. We inspire and encourage each other in ways we don’t even realize. It’s all about sincerely sharing ourselves in the spirit of friendship and happiness. Thank you ladies for brightening my day!
